Google DevFest 2010

The 1st Google DevFest in Indonesia

On Friday, Oct 8th 2010 there was Google DevFest 2010 in Binus Anggrek, West Jakarta.

This was an event which I noticed how generous Google is. They brought the latest technology of Google. I can see their "Open Standards" technology they had. On the first session, Mr. Alan Noble (R & D Director of Google) spoke about the development of Google technology now. How they developed the technology and share it worldwide.

Acara ini sangat bagus, dan saya baru "ngeh" akan betapa baiknya Google. Mereka berbagi tentang teknologi Google. Dan saya bisa lihat teknologi "Open Standard" yang mereka gunakan. Pada sesi pertama, Alan Noble berbicara tentang perkembangan teknologi Google pada saat ini, dan bagaimana cara mereka mengembangkan dan membaginya pada seluruh dunia

After Mr. Noble, one of Google Evangelists- Mr. Tony Chan. He shared about the development of Android since it was launched until now.

Setelah Noble, acara dilanjutkan dengan presentasi dari Tony Chan tentang sejarah perkembangan Android dari pertama kali diluncurkan hingga saat ini

The next one was Mr. Arne Roomann Kurik. He spoke about the latest technology of HTML 5. That was amazing. He showed us what HTML5 can do even without plug-ins installed in the browser. It can made a puzzled video and some gorgeous animations.

Setelah itu, Arne Roomann Kurik menjelaskan tentang teknologi HTML 5. Hal ini sangat menarik dan sayang untuk dilewatkan. Ia menunjukkan apa saja hal yang kita bisa buat menggunakan HTML 5, tanpa perlu menginstal plug-in di dalam browser. Dengan HTML 5, kita bisa membuat video yang berbentuk seperti puzzle dan animasi yang yang cantik.

After the lunch break, the session continued with the Google Maps API by Mr. Shawn Shen. He was awesome... He showed us how to use the google map API on the browser, put marks on it, and everything!

Setelah makan siang dan istirahat, dilanjutkan dengan Google Maps API oleh Shawn Shen. Ia sangat "keren", dengan presentasinya tentang cara menggunakan google map API di dalam browser, "menandainya" dan lain-lain

And, the last but not least... The coolest google evangelist: Mr. Timothy Jordan. He shared about the new social web that was about Open Standard such as OAUTH, Salmon, etc.

Dan, yang terakhir adalah... evangelist google yang keren: Timothy Jordan. Ia mempresentasikan tentang teknologi social web yang menggunakan teknologi Open Standard seperti OAUTH, Salmon, dll.

After the "talk sessions", google evengelists gave us two option to join the codelabs: The Geo or Chrome ( HTML5). In these codelab sessions, we can practice to do some codes, and we could ask everything we'd like to ask to the evangelists.

Setelah sesi "talk", google evangelist menyediakan dua pilihan codelab yaitu Chrome dan Geo. Pada codelab ini kita bisa praktek dan bertanya langsung pada ahlinya (dan langsung dijawab!).

While the other join the codelabs, the rest joined in the Android Advance: Android UI Patterns & Performance Tuning. This was aweseome. Because they shared about how to make a great design. So the event was not only about code, code and codes! hehehe..

Ketika sebagian peserta mengikuti codelab, sisanya mengikuti sesi Android untuk tingkat lanjut, tentang membuat desain User Interface dengan baik. Ini yang saya tunggu. Karena memberi tahu bagaimana caranya untuk membuat desain yang bagus. Jadi pada acara ini bukan hanya melulu soal koding! hehehe

this was lovely... I love designing UI... and I had many problems in doing so. Thanks to google, they showed me how to do it well. ^_^

So, it's wrapped! Oh, almost forgotten... from Indonesia, there was web entrepreneurs such as Andrew Darwis as we knew as "mimin" in Kaskus, The Largest Indonesian Community and the other.. (sorry, I forgot the name of the other two... hehehe)

Dan akhirnya.. perhelatan itu selesai! Oh, saya hampir lupa. Sebelum penutupan, dari Indonesia ada Andrew Darwis alias mimin kaskus.. dan 2 orang lainnya yang (maaf ya saya lupa namanya...hehhe)

The Google Developer Festival in Jakarta was awesome, indeed. One thing skipped. No certificate of participation *sigh

Thank you Google, the evangelists, Binus, and the sponsors... as far as I knew.. google is great... and it is really GREAT.... !
